Weekend in Review
As I mentioned on Saturday I had a couples birthday party to attend but with slight apprehension since I hadn't seen them in a year. My report post party is they still love me. I thought I missed that boat, but reconciliation over bottles of tequila and whiskey always seem to work out.
On Friday I attended Flavorpill and the American Museum of Natural History's One Step Beyond event. Museum parties are becoming the new thing in NYC as every museum is incorporating DJ dance parties into their calendar of events. this phenomena was first started by PS1 with the advent of their summer Saturday afternoon tea dances. NY Museums are realizing the fund-raising / art exposure potential of these events. Museums from the 4 corners of the five borough are having grand soirees with world known top rate DJs in an effort to bring more patrons and funds through museum doors, I was wondering if these events are viable nightlife alternatives, so this weekend I attended One Step Beyond with DJ Jazzy Jeff, and DJ Dirty Finger. All I have to say, is that it is a highly enjoyable way to spend a Friday night. I believe they have the best deal going, as your $20 allows you to dance, drink and socialize as well as see the exhibits including the space show Cosmic Collisions in the oval theater, which was mesmerizing. I mean, I was slightly inebriated but felt like an astronaut in space, you also get a return museum ticket for a later date. The only complaint I have is the drink ticket line was a little outrageously long, they should get another kiosk.
