REVIEW

Ilili 236 Fifth Ave., btwn. 27th St.; 212-683-2929
This elegant upscale, resto/lounge is a delicious fix for your eating and lounging needs. I had the good fortune of being taken here for Valentine's Day and all I can say is um um good. The drinks of course match the food in satisfying the palate as the Chef-owner Philippe Massoud, has a menu that combines traditional Lebanese and modern Mediterranean flavors, covering both territories with gastronomical flare. The space houses multiple lounges and dining areas divided into four areas. The downstairs lounge, is the first thing in sight once you walk past the hall-of-mirrors-entrance; a main dining room, separated from the red leathered lounge by wooden panels. A smaller dining room upstairs reserved for private parties; and it's adjacent VIP lounge, a self-sufficient cube (with its own bathroom and dance floor) that overlooks the bar lounge action below. Specialty cocktails, such as the Poison Sumac Margarita and From Beiruit With Passion, spice up the drink selection and of course a DJ to ad atmosphere on weekend nights.
